I've seen this for sale from as low as $160 to as high as $230. Weighs 42oz. All the reviews are so postive I think they are written by manufacturer.

anyone have one?

I do not own one, but one of my range buddies does. Doesn't matter the ammo, he's never finished a magazine without at least one stovepipe or misfire. Hi Point even replaced his original magazine (so score one for them in the Customer Service column) but no dice.
It's a little too clunky for my tastes and I have a difficult time with the grip (but that's subjective).
I think you probably get what you pay for...

friend has one. bulky. UGLY. but his goes bang every time. made in the US. lifetime no question warrenty, doesn't matter if you are 1st owner or the 1,000th. if it does go back they return with exta mag. I do have one of there c9's. llike it, but not what I would carry.

I owned one and hated it

I had one of the .45 Hi-Points.
I hated it.
It was a jam-o-matic.
It would only function properly with FMJ Ball ammo from Remington.
It would not digest Aguilar, Winchester White Box, Wolf, or PMC
Getting rid of it was the best decision I ever made.
The safety is made of a thin piece of sheet metal that can be easily bent with just finger pressure.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS FIREARM FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION CARRY!

anyone that has one and wants to get rid of it, I have plenty of room in the safe. allways willing to take in unwanted guns. nice to have to loan out for plinking that I don't have to worry about it getting scratched up or dirty.

I feel that these firearms are more dangerous to you then to not have anything at all. I believe that they will give you a false sense of security, and possibly cause you to get yourself in a fatal situation.

If money is a problem you might consider a smith and wesson sigma from Academy, i think they were going for around 300.

Obviously I recommend not getting one but saving your money and getting something worth betting your families lives on.

I have two and have never had a problem with either in all the time I owned them well into the 20,000 rounds of ammo shot.if they are such junk the company would have folded a long time ago. they are warrantied forever

You get what you pay for...sadly.

thats just what i was going to say. my brother sold his. it was garbage. at least i think so. but if you have no trouble with it than cool. i def. wouldnt get one unless i had to, but thats me. but like i stated in another thread, id rather have it than no gun at all.

all weapons are prone to malfunction. this one is def. not my first choice of firearm, but you cant beat the price though.

Stick with the tried and true! There are a few folks on here that have Hi-Points and like them. I hear more bad than good about them. If you are going to spend money on a defensive firearm then you don't want to pinch pennies. You want something "reliable" that you can count on in a pinch! Whether that be a revolver or semi-auto. It's hard to go wrong with manufacturers like Sig, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Kimber, etc... If you want affordablility and reliability in a semi-auto, then the Glock or Springfield XD pistols are going to be your best options.
