Any advice on where to carry?

I'm new to concealed carry and carry an LC9 on my hip at 5 o'clock with a pretty in-expensive IWB hoslter. Are there pros/cons to that position/holster, or does anyone have any better suggestions? Just wondering. Thanks!

Spend the $ on a good holster. , I like around 330, but thats my comfort spot. All personal prefrence. Remember, when u carry, its not necessarily supposed to b comfortable, its supposed to b comforting.

I must disagree with that statement. For example may people are comforted by carrying a firearm in a purse or other type of bag that will be the first item snatched by the typical grab and dash type of bad guy. When you carry, it is not necessarily supposed to be comfortable, it is supposed to be effective.

You just might end up with a drawer full of holsters before you find the right match for you and your gun. As for position, I prefer about 3:30-4:00 o'clock.

I have a whole drawer full of holsters. Do yourself a favor, find one you like and spend the money on it.
To answer your question about IWB carry position, I frequently change where I carry between 3 o'clock and 4:30 ish. I'll change depending on what pair of shorts I'm wearing or what pair of pants. I also can't stand wearing my IWB holster while I'm driving...maybe I need to find a better IWB holster. I will also mention, I have some awesome OWB holsters that conceal great, like one of my favorite Galco holsters that is a very high ride for the baby glocks 26,27&33. With a normal t-shirt over the holster you can't even tell I'm carrying.
Back to the IWB holsters and the whole comfort thing, I have several friends that have "Crossbreed" holsters and they swear up and down how great they are. I really have been meaning to get one, but haven't gotten a chance to order one yet. They're supposedly the best IWB holster money can buy...

Hope that makes things clear as mud for ya! When you do decide on either a holster or carry position, let us know!

I can carry a Glock 17 at 3:30 in a Crossbreed Supertuck without even noticing it. A good belt and a strong cant really make a difference. First spend the money to get a good holster and gun belt. If you want to save a few bucks try the Crossbreed seconds. Crossbreed Holsters - Second Hand Holsters

Make small changes, give it a chance, then make another change. Eventually you will find your spot and angle of carry. Don't try to rush it, just relax and enjoy the process.

You don't need a holster before taking the class. In most cases, you're not even supposed to carry while taking the class. It may depend on what state you're in for qualification, but in mine, you need to shoot 100 rounds at a regular 8X10 sheet of paper. 20 with each hand, 20 with 2 hands, 20 behind left barrier and 20 behind right barrier.

I didn't know they had used holsters for sale... hmmm....
Did you buy one used yourself? It seems kind of shady, they want you to mail in cash before they'll send the holster...

if it worked for you let me know, I'll jump all over that!

When I carry, it has to be both comfortable & effective. I carry either a S&W 1911 .45 or a S&W M60 .357 snub in a Kl Null Vam (Vampire) Driving Crossdraw Holster. Positioned at 9:00 when driving, and anywhere in between 10:30 & 12:00 for everything else. The horizontal position allows for easy concealment anywhere on your belt. The vertical grip - horizontal barrel position lightens the weight considerably and makes printing undetectable. Very comfortable in all carry positions on the belt and the pull through retainer snap is very effective for draw. Constructed of high quality horsehide and individually molded for model of specified handgun, this craftsmanship is second to none. Pricey but well worth it.

Out of all the gun "sayings" that I despise, that is #1

RIGHT Gun, RIGHT Holster, RIGHT position = Comfortable, period! If somebody knowingly CHOOSES to be uncomfortable buy getting a gun that's the wrong size for there body type or for the way they dress, carrying in a cheap holster or buying into the "dress around the gun" crap that's their choice. But the fact is it's a CHOICE!

I also carry an LC9 and I use the Crossbreed mini-tuck. It took almost two weeks of wearing the holster for it to break-in and become comfortable, now its awesome. They have different mounting options, lifetime warranty, and made in USA!

Just as important as a good holster is a good gun belt. I own three CBSTs and two Crossbreed belts. You may be able to save quite a bit of $$ if you buy at: Crossbreed Holsters - Second Hand Holsters

Crossbreed is a GREAT company and have a high quality & very comfortable product. They also offer a lifetime warranty and excellent CS.

It may take a little time to find that sweet spot. You'll need to experiment with position, cant & ride height before you get it right. Don't get in a hurry. Wear a holster for a day or two; then change position. Adjust the ride height so you can get a proper grip form the position you're carrying in. Once you find a comfortable position adjust the cant.

It took me a year before I finally settled on AIWB. I trimmed down one of my CBSTs and now I can't carry any other way.

Jump on it Arizona. That's the way I've purchased two holsters & two belts. Not only will you save $$ over a new CB product, you get a "second" in a shorter time frame. If you buy a "good" or "excellent" condition product, you'll likely find it to be in "Like New" condition.

Awesome! thank you! that's the little push I needed (to buy something I didn't need haha). I can't wait. I think maybe I'll get one for my 23, 33 and possibly my 21....

Thanks for the answer! I have heard these are the best, I guess I will know sooner than later!

Its no differance what holster you use as long as it holds your weapon securely, and it allows easy access, and is somewhat comfortable, I have a 18 dollar Tagua that holds my XD as well as a 60 dollar Desantis

I ordered mine today! I will update you when I get it.

You will really dig the new rig. I have a CB style made by a local guy. I use it for my XD40Sc and couldnt be happier. My lc9 goes in my new smartcarry holster and I think it will be another winner. Guns should be free since you end up spending so much money on holsters. Good times

Since Crossbreed is getting a lot of love, I'll throw my hat in the ring for Comp-Tac. I wear either the Link Removed or the Link Removed everyday. I also own a Crossbreed Supertuck and, well, I'm a Comp-Tac fan.

Don't skimp on the belt.
