Are you sick and tired of waiting 12 to 18 months for a restricted pistol permit in Erie County?

Contact the links above and ask them to issue a mailing to members in Erie County rating County Clerk Kathy Hochul (D) with an NRA rating of "F".

There's a huge pile of pistol permit applications collecting dust in one of the offices under her control. Voice your concern to the NRA and urge them to help us oust this woman from office in the next election by supporting a pro-second amendment candidate. There are lots of us who are getting pretty tired of this garbage.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree

If you think Kathy Hocul is the problem you are dead wrong. She is a friend of the second amendment and has an "A" rating from the Erie County Chapter of Scope. She is very supportive of our cause. She is arranging for the pistor permit office to have a representative at gun shows to make the sale and transfer if pistos user friendly. You will now not have to bring reciept downtown, have pistol put on permit, and then go back to the seller and pick up gun. It will all be done at show 11-3pm sat & sun. It will be done for the first time in March at the Hamburg show. She is making this happen. Please join scope to find out who are friends are and who is the enemy.

I'd feel better if she took care of the mountain of pistol permit applicants who have been waiting over a year for a stupid target only permit. I saw the pile of applications myself and it was close to a foot high with the purple colored US Postal money orders attached to each one with a paper clip. An FBI background check takes less than 15 minutes. All you need is a social security number and a set of finger prints.

Kathy Hochul is a liberal democrat who supported Hillary Clinton for President. Her husband, William Hochul was just appointed US Attorney for WNY by President Obama at the urging of Senator Schumer. You are who you associate with and Clinton, Schumer and Obama are not pro-second amendment.

Kathy Hochul could have these pistol permits processed much faster just by making a phone call. Other counties do it with far less people and resources. The pistol permit office is under her control and they are delaying our permits by design.

More on Kathy Hochul's biography:

Ms. Hochul served as legal counsel and legislative assistant to Senator Patrick Moynihan and Congressman John LaFalce.

Sen Patrick Moynihan fought for a bill to place a 1000% tax on ammunition. Kathy Hochul was his legal counsel.

"With a 10,000% tax we could tax them out of existence."
--U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan

Congressman Lafalce Voted NO on decreasing gun waiting period from 3 days to 1.
LaFalce has never voted against a gun control measure or for a gun rights bill.
Congressman Lafalce voted FOR the Mcarthy Amendment that requires background checks for people buying guns at gun shows through the national instant check system, allowing three business days to complete any additional investigation that is required. Kathy Hochel worked for Congressman Lafalce.

Do these people sound pro-second amendment to you?

You are right about LaFalce, Schumer, and Clinton. Kathy Hochul has not been anti-gun as the county clerk. She made sure all permit holder information was kept private and confidential and she has pressed for a state law to protect permit holder's information. She is definately against making pistol permits renewable. She is not responsable for the policy of restricting permits that is done by the judges. Kathy Hochul is the first Erie County Clerk in my memory to set up at local gun shows to make it easier for permit holders to buy and sell handguns at a gun show. There are many anti-gun politicians you can spend your time bashing. Kathy Hochul does deserve to be among them.

That is outstanding news!

Thanks for the info.

For those waiting 6 to 18 months for the initial permit, well maybe next year,

I assume SCOPE has no problem with permit applications sitting in the clerks office for months before they are even looked at or sent off to a local Police department for the references to be called? This has nothing to do with judges and restricted vs unrestricted permits. It has everything to do with deliberate delays and lazy staff. Waiting over a year for a target permit is a disgrace and SCOPE knows it. Instead of defending Ms. Hochel and the pistol permit office staff, how about some help and/or suggestions on how to correct this? I hope you enjoy the Hamburg gun show and make sure you say thanks to those wonderful county employees who are getting paid huge overtime wages to save you a trip downtown. The Erie County taxpayer thanks you, I'm sure.
