Anoka County is passing on a budget surplus to consumers.
This month, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office lowered fees to purchase and renew gun permits. New applications dropped from $100 to $75; renewals went from $75 to $50.
Unlike other state or county fees, the permit to carry program pays for itself. The program has grown in popularity and the county can't profit off a budget surplus.
Every year about 1,500 people apply for a gun permit in Anoka County.
Permit to carry classes through GunClasses.Net start at $75. See www.gunclasses.net for more details and dates.
