Anit-Freeze disposal

This is to everyone out there who changes there anti-freeze this autumn. Please dispose of your anti-freeze in either a covered sealed container or take it to a place where you can dispose it correctly. I ask you this because one of my favorite cats somehow drank some of it and for the last two days he has been slowly dying. The results of animals drinking anti-freeze is their liver and kidneys shut down and there’s really nothing that can be done. We were hoping that since he was drinking water and moving around a bit that he hadn’t drank enough to harm him, but this evening I really don’t think he’ll make it through the night. It really makes me mad as hell to think that someone would not dispose of the anti-freeze in a correct way and just empty it on the ground. From what my wife found out it just takes a very little bit to cause harm to pets that are outside pets, so please dispose of it correctly, you might just save someone’s pet in the outcome. Please pass this on to everyone you know.

I hope your cat makes it through. Good luck my friend.

That's a shame mmckee1952. I feel for you because that is an awful way to see a beloved pet go. I hope he makes it through.

I know this information probably won't give you solace, but in order for this to not happen again, a lot of anti-freeze manufacturers are making their antifreeze so it doesn't have that "sweet" taste to it that pets are attracted to. Regardless, anyone changing it should dispose of it correctly.

Sorry,I just don't think that there's really anybody who cares about animals on this site. There's other places to express your thoughts on this subject.

You said it best "I just don't think". I do think there's a bit of a disconnect between the chair you're sitting on and the key board of your computer.

They aren't just animals or pets. They're part of our family.

Losing one of them is like losing a child.

Go somewhere else, yourself. As Azimuth315 pointed out, and you are apparently unable to grasp, this is the Off-Topic forum, i.e. non-gun topics. Now why don't you go find another thread somewhere that's more in line with your interests? You're doing nothing but making mistakes and irritating people here.

And you might want to consider the fact that the guy who started this thread has more than 1200 posts while you have only 14. Which one of you do you think is most likely to know how this forum operates? Hang around for a little while before you make a fool of yourself trying to lecture veterans on how the forum is supposed to operate. Your time here will go much smoother that way.

Sorry to hear about your cat. A few weeks ago there was a story on the news here about somebody that was poisoning cats with antifreeze intentionally. Hope that wasn't the case with your cat.

I want to thank everyone who expressed concern for my cat, he was one of those cats who adopts the family he joins, Willy was a big muscular black & white breed that’s why we called him Willy after the whale, he would keep his distance until he knew he had found a family that would love him, but it’s sad to say Willy didn’t make it through the night, I made him a bed to try to make him as comfortable as possible and checked on him throughout the night, yes it’s really sad to lose a pet, but if you live way out in the country as I do, it’s one of those things you have to accept when you have outside animals. Again thanks a lot guys for your concern and thoughts.

Sorry to hear of your loss mmckee. It's always tuff on the family. I had to put down a large Maine Coon due to issues after 10 plus years being with us and that was probably the hardest thing I've had to do. Feel your pain, again sorry for your loss.

With less than a dozen (when you initiated this fiasco) posts, you presume to know what the rest of us care about??? That would be laughable, had you picked some other subject to jump in the middle of...

mmckee1952... my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm sorry about your loss.
