I didn't see anywhere in Obama's printed speech that the shooter did anything illegal to purchase these weapons and the ammo. So why all the theatrics? The POS shooter bought everything legally. I'm really tired of Obama using dead bodies as his podium, to make an issue out of a non-issue, to add laws where current laws aren't even being enforced. Someone on the forum asked "where's it going to end?" I'm afraid it all going to end the day the government attempts to come for America's guns!

BTW... if civilians want to be able to defend themselves against a rogue government, they're going to need weapons equal to, or greater than, that of their opposition. This would include tanks if one was so inclined and had the means!

I think back to the American Revolution. Artillery pieces may have been limited to those with more money to buy them, but rifles were rifles. The common man basically had the same armament as did the British Soldier. The British knew it, which is why they marched to Concord to try to disarm the "public" by taking their gunpowder. If anything, the Americans had a slight weapon advantage with rifles over the british muskets, but that also depends on the fighting style.

Based on that firm piece of logic, I would like to buy some grenades for my SKS, please!

This is the point I was making on a friend's Facebook post where he stated that he's all for the second amendment for hunting "and stuff", but why does anyone need an assault rifle? So we went through what he (and a few others who were commenting) thought the term meant. When they were done describing it, I pulled out the picture of my wife and her new Marlin 795, and showed them exactly what they were describing. For some reason that whole post got deleted before I could make a few more final points. I'd like to think it's because this friend saw the light, but I more get the feeling he was embarrassed that a half dozen anti-gunners couldn't out-logic one lone "gun nut".

Not his call. He is just like the rest, who needs a 30 or 100 round "Clip"? The populace, the folks that will not be pushed around, the ones that shall defend themselves, the ones that need to be on the boarders to repel invaders, keep what is ours from those that wish to take it away as in mine vs theirs, my God, Guns and Guts, my way of life vs. the way they want to social engineer Me, Mine and us. To name just a few. It is what I want to have on hand to keep me safe from the mob. Not hunting. Self Defense.
