I think it has to do with the elections? To fuel anti-gun laws.

Well, whatever the reasoning is, that's messed up that these two young officers had to die. The Sheriff that spoke, got very choked up at times and was very professional to pull himself together. My prayers go out to the officer's families.

Yesterday a volunteer with a gay/lesbian civic organization entered the HQ for the Family Research Council in Washington D.C. and shot a guard. I have yet to see that one hit the main street news (and probably won't since it was an attack by a leftist on a Christian/Family values organization).

This latest one smacks of something bigger than a nutcase. It appears that several people were involved - I'm thinking drug running, drug war, or something similar...

IF it is an attempt to rally the anti-gunners, it seems to be backfiring on them. If Colorado is any indication, more people are becoming increasingly aware that there are more violent BGs out there all the time, and the police can't be everywhere.

I just saw the local news. The shooting took place about 40 miles from where I live. One of the people arrested was on Nebraskas Most Wanted list and had escaped or evaded arrest. There were also 5 others arrested in a group with him. "Sources say" that they considered themselves "soverign citizens" and did not comply with the government. Supposedly they were part of a White Supremacist or "extremist anti-government" group, as stated on the news. That is the initial report. The first officer was shot while working extra duty, directing traffic in and out of a plant in the area that was on a turn around. It's not known what happened, but it appeared to be an unprovoked ambush. That Officer survived his wounds. The other three officers were shot when they discovered the suspect car used in the initial shooting. They found it in a trailer park, and were talking to two of the subjects, when a third one came out of the trailer with an "assault rifle" and began shooting. Two Deputies were killed and one returned fire and survived his injuries. The two wounded officers underwent surgery and are improving and expected to survive.

I think the media picks and chooses what they want to report so it supports both their views and those of the administration. The George Zimmerman/Travon Martin shooting went unreported for a month and Zimmerman was not going to be charged until brought to the attention of the media and then it went ballistic. Now Zimmerman, the "White Hispanic" is out on a one million dollar bail awaiting trial.

When he is acquitted, there will probably be riots, unless everyone in Florida is too old to riot.

Gun violence is getting out of control.

Gun violence in the criminal world has been out of control. The media is just making a point of elevating each incident to a national level, I believe to advance their anti gun stance. However gun violence has dropped statistically in all states with a reasonable means allowing citizens to be armed in public. Actually FBI stats show violent crime has dropped over the last 15 or so years, in spite of increasing population.

Besides I just shot a couple hundred rounds this afternoon and my gun violence was pretty much in control.

The news is reporting ANYTHING that involves a gun going off right now. A few days ago there was "breaking news" about a clown that shot himself in the butt by accident ... in a movie theater ... so that's big news. The media are disgusting.
