ammo prices

It's been hard as heck to find any ammo at wal-mart but I happened to find some here in a gun shop in south Florida and wanted some input as to what is a resonable price for .45 and 9mm range ammo.

I got 500 rounds of .45 for $180.00, which is about $17.50 per 50 rounds. Federal 100 round boxes were $30 per 100 rounds but I almost never found them even before the crunch. Winchester white box was $40.00 per 100 rounds and that's usually what I was able to find. So, I figure I did well as I paid $36 per 100 rounds.

The 9mm ammo was $350 for 1000 rounds, which is $35 per 100. Winchester white box was available readily for $24 per 100 before the crunch.

I know I did well on the .45 ammo as it is a good price compared to before the shortage. I kind of paid a little much for 9mm compared to before the shortage as it was much cheaper than the .45 ammo.

Based on the current situation did I do well on both counts? What's everyone been paying lately? The Internet prices I've seen have been really high, when available.

Btw, it was Remington umc ammo I bought.

.45 is an amazing price. You did well for 9mm that's excellent I paid $16 for general box of brass not wwb. Best I've done. Most is $19-20 in stores and $25 a box elsewhere. No one has stock and 3-5 box limit now :/ suprised you could buy so much

I don't know where SteveO is shopping but Around here= Columbia S.C ammo is rare. Wal-Mart gets it in and people take their buddies & buy it all up so they can re-sell on the internet for double & triple the price.
People with regular jobs are just **** out of luck. I went to the Gun Show this weekend. No 22lr, 9 mm, or other popular brands. I got 50 rounds 3/8 special for $13.50.

Just picked up 3 boxs of 9mm Federal at my local Walmart this past weekend. They ony had 6 on the shelf. So I got my 3 limit, only $13 & change for a box of 50.

I hadn't been to this place for a while so I don't know if I just got lucky they even had bulk ammo. I will probably give them a call back and ask if they have bulk ammo to see what they say. Funny thing is, I just asked what they had and he started talking about bulk ammo like he knew I'd buy a lot of it. Maybe it was the marine corps hat.

I had gone in there before and offered me a military discount price for a gun. The hat may have helped. It's a big police supply place and they had lots of guns and looked fully stocked too. Hopefully this ammo craze will die down soon.
