I wonder if internet religion forums are plagued by tons of obnoxious firearms owners incessantly lecturing about guns, ammo, ballistics, and the like.

You're not in a gun thread. You're in a religious thread. And don't wonder about religious forums. Go there and look.

Why are you praising god in your posts here? Whom are you trying to impress, god? Doesn't christianity teach that your talks with your god are supposed to be private and that you should close your door and do it in private?
Because the forum rules allow it. The forum rules allow nearly anything in off-topic. And no, I'm not trying to impress anyone here, especially angry Atheists who are drawn to this like a crack-head. It's like an addiction for atheists. Christianity does not teach that one speaks to God in private only. Where do you get this private prayer nonsense? Churches are for public use? This site is for public use. This thread is specifically for public religious discussion. And one can loudly pray or profess their love of God in any publicly place without interference from government. You think praying before you enter the courtroom would be stopped by a court officer?
.
The questions still haven't been answered...
1. If proof is required, prove you love your family.
2. What happened to you? Most atheists aren't angry nor do they name-call and attack religion at every turn. It's the angry atheist nut that does that.

When we learn the truth of His birth, then it is upon each of us to decide whether to follow the truth of God, or follow the traditions of men.

Good Morning Ringo, I received this yesterday from Mike Dennin, he is the co-founder of The American Patriot Council and a good friend.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL from Virginia
Michael Dennin

Christmas is many different things to different people. To Christians, it is the time to celebrate God's gift to humanity, His Son, whose teachings and sacrifice would lead all of God's children to eternal salvation. To the less religious, it is a time to gather together and celebrate the more secular traditions of our families and cultures. To the cynical, it is a time to attack religious belief and the crass commercialism associated with the holiday gift-giving and merriment. However, regardless of whether you are a believer or not, all of us have a reason to celebrate the birth of the most important and revolutionary figure in Western Civilization - Jesus of Nazareth.

When we look at Jesus, we tend to think of him as a religious figure, and rightly so. However, our preoccupation with his divinity and the miracles associated with him make it easy to overlook the fact that Jesus is arguably the most important and influential humanist in world history. Consider this passage from Boris Pasternak's masterpiece Doctor Zhivago, where the Russian novelist speaks of the humanism of Jesus through the character of Zhivago's uncle Nikolay, a former priest who had himself unfrocked and later became a revolutionary idealist. In this conversation between Nikolay and his writer friend Ivan (which is notably absent from David Lean's beautiful film), Nikolay declares:

"What you don't understand is that it is possible to be an atheist, it is possible not to know if God exists or why He should, and yet to believe that man does not live in a state of nature but in history, and that history as we know it began with Christ, it was founded by Him on the Gospels. Now what is history? Its beginning is that of the systematic work devoted to the solution of the enigma of death, so that death may eventually be overcome. This why people write symphonies, and why they discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves. Now, you can't advance in this direction without a certain upsurge of spirit. You can't make such discoveries without spiritual equipment, and for this, everything necessary has been given us in the Gospels. What is it? Firstly, the love of one's neighbor - the supreme form of living energy. Once it fills the heart of man it has to overflow and spend itself. And secondly, the two concepts which are the main part of the make-up of modern man - without them he is inconceivable - the ideas of free personality and of life regarded as sacrifice. Mind you, this is all new. There was no history in this sense in the classical world. There you had the blood and beastliness and cruelty and pock-marked Caligulas untouched by the suspicion that any man who enslaves others is inevitably second-rate. There you had the boastful and dead eternity of bronze monuments and marble columns. It was not until after the coming of Christ that time and man could breathe freely. It was not until after Him that men began to live in their posterity and ceased to die in ditches like dogs - instead they died at home, in history, at the height of the work they devoted to the conquest of death, being themselves dedicated to this aim."

This may come as a shock to the secular humanists who routinely disparage Christianity, but as Pasternak points out, not only was Jesus a humanist, he was the humanist who altered the trajectory of human history by radically elevating the status of the individual and his/her relationship to the secular powers that governed church and state. Central to Jesus' teachings and sacrifice was the revolutionary notion that the individual and the life of the individual were all important and valuable regardless of one's political, social and economic status. This is the highest and ultimate form of speaking truth to power, and it is this truth that Jesus was willing to die for to make clear and beneficial to all men. It is also this truth that our great country - the last crumbling bastion of individual freedom on the planet - was founded on, and it is Jesus' spirit of self-sacrifice that has likewise inspired those who have given the fullest measure of devotion to our country and what it stands for. Truly, these precious gifts and those who gave them to us are worth honoring and celebrating.

And so I wish a Merry Christmas to All. May the spirit and blessings of this holiday fill you with love, joy and a renewed determination to preserve what Jesus and others like him have granted us, no matter how great and fearful the challenges we face. As long as that will and determination exists, hope and salvation spring eternal.

Ringo,

So, is Pat Robertson one of your "prophets"? He doesn't seem to have a very good track record. If we can't believe this "man of God" why should we believe your predictions?

Farmhood, I just read an article that said, “the following actions listed against Christians and the Military are literally unprecedented – this is the first time they have happened in four centuries of American history”.

“The hostility of President Obama toward Biblical faith and values is without equal from any previous American president”.

I think his Hostility is against America in General and everything it stands for, Christianity, The Constitution, Individualism, and Patriotism.

Gramsci, Obama’s Marxist friend proposed that a takeover of the cultural institutions was the necessary first step to the eventual takeover of the political and economic structures of a free society.

Saul Alinsky the last great communist organizer who dedicated his book to Lucifer provided the training, Bill Ayes and others Socialists, under the name of Communist, Progressives, Democrats, or whatever have tirelessly worked on the takeover over of universities, media, churches, and other cultural intermediary structures in America.

Now they have introduced their Silver Bullet Obama out of nowhere who knew the socialist revolution depends on destroying Christianity, and Class Warfare, destroying the Economy and the Constitution on the way are just icing on the cake.

This artificial warfare, is now being orchestrated by Obama in many different ways black vs. white, Americans vs. illegal immigrants, owners of the means of production vs. the laborers, the rich vs. poor, the landowners paying the bills vs. freeloaders that pay nothing, gun owners vs. anti-gunners, and protesters vs. police, all part of the plan that moves society toward the goals of socialism, and Obama is here to complete the cycle.

They knew the only way of eroding the cultural foundations of this Great Nation was to weaken natural defenses of Christianity, The Constitution, Individualism, and Patriotism and this would open the path for the economic and political aims of the socialist revolution.

Debray, I must agree. Has anyone been more ferocious in their pursuit of NOT upholding the oath concerning the constitution? If so who would that be?

Hood,

I would say that most of the opposition to America in the world comes not because of what we believe in or what we have, but rather what we do and how we do it. I a word they oppose American hipocracy. America preaches freedom and respect yet oppresses and humiliates. I oppose fundamentalist Christians for the same reason. You cannot preach love and spew hate and scream destruction and expect to be taken seriously.

Are you from this country? Is this your country?

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

Yes I am, but like a parent loves a child but is not always proud of their actions, I feel the same way about my country. I love my country, but I'm not always proud of her actions. I'm not proud of the way her leaders treat other nations. How we build a school in a foreign country one day, then bomb it the next because it was mistaken for housing terrorists. How we say bring me your cold, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Unless of course we don't like your religion, skin color, or sexual orientation. Unlike a lot of people on this board, I don't believe in chest thumping about my country. I love her warts and all, but I'm not going to ignore the warts.
