Almost a year later

Almost a year later, I was contacted for my claim against the VA, i.e. hearing loss. While the assessment was performed over the Memorial weekend. I was hesitant.
Long story short, I was assessed at zero percentage with a noted "Major hearing Loss". "Perceptive of disability ZERO". Talked to the VFW and they stated without "Total" hearing loss you'll get no recompense. WTF, They spent over hundreds of thousands on my education and high security clearance, to include R&D at a commercial contractor, and say the hundred of thousands of US dollars that due to my hearing loss I would not be further certified in live ordnance shops. It's in the record, just feel like I'm being F*$#ed by the VA ensuring their "Case Loads" are or have been reduced.

I went in for my back, came out with 0% for my feet. Go figure.

mappow, you have PLENTY of company. Sounds like an initial claim and, if so, APPEAL it. Major hearing loss and, you say it's "in the record?" Do you mean service records? Sounds fishy, but a LOT of what the VA does stinks. I had 24 years of high blood pressure readings while on AD and was turned down because I was not "diagnosed" with high blood pressure. Anything they can do to delay, deny, deny and hope you die will be done. (I'm a Vietnam vet) Get every bit of documentation you can from any source citing your hearing loss and service connectivity. If you're not doing so now, getting medical evidence from a specialist now is helpful. Your VFW rep should certainly know how to direct you. Just don't give up. They're YOUR benefits, you EARNED them.

Telpinaro and mappow, I think you're both the rule rather than the exception to the rule. From the sound of it, you're lucky you even got in the door. Hopefully congress is getting ready to do something about it, but don't hold your breath. I wish you the best of luck though.

If you had a hearing test and it measured a major hearing loss I would appeal it. I have a major hearing loss and I received my hearing aids and a little disability pay.
