yeah...the whole thing screams "christian"...

Alabama pastor holds

A controversial pastor's conference welcoming only "white Christians" is underway in Lamar County, Ala., upsetting residents of the nearby town of Winfield in the western part of the state.

Christian Identity Ministries is holding a three-day conference for so-called "white Christians" who contend they have been treated unfairly, the Rev. Mel Lewis told local TV station WSFA. Lewis, the organizer and keynote speaker, says they have the right, like any other Americans, to worship how they wish.

Ku Klux Klan flags and white supremacy slogans surround the conference, which will conclude with a cross being set on fire Friday night. Organizers say it's not a cross-burning, but rather sacred Christian cross lighting.

"We are not breaking any laws. We're not violating any ordinances. We're bringing the Word of God to people who want it, obviously, or they wouldn't be here," Lewis told the TV station.

Lewis said of the conference-goers: "They are part of the chosen race."

The mayor of nearby Winfield said residents are upset, and the event does not represent their town in any way.

"Business people are upset. The city is upset. The city of Winfield does not condone this," Winfield Mayor Wayne Silas told another local TV station, WECT.

"It's surprising to see something like that in our town," said Tyler Cantrell. "I know it's been here in the past."

Organizers say their ministry is not a hate group and that although there is a strong KKK presence, the Klan did not sponsor the event.

Jesus suffered and died for 'all of mankind'.
The color of a persons skin may matter to 'some people' but it does not matter to Jesus Christ.
Bigoted people need to re-read the entire New testament, because they apparently have not learned that Jesus did not come to this Earth to 'condemn' us, but to 'save' us.
~Amen~

It don't take long to be reminded that they're a lot of sorry people on the planet, and some of them even address themselves as "Rev." There is only one reverent person and that's the Lord. This guy will find that out some day when he bows his knee before the Lord.

montgomery alabama racism from all races is rampant there from what i understand. sad this christian group, is it a westboro knock off .....what a bunch of kooky klan crapola they spew forth and all in the name of their version of jesus and god
smgdh

Very well said Outlaw. I've got no time for bigoted people, no matter what their religion.

yup the human race .......alot like cats....they come in many colors shapes and sizes
they don't hate for the colors of their fur.........we can learn alot from cats
meowing out loud

The Christian Identity movement is hardly main stream Christianity. They are a white supremicist group who's more famous members include Randy Weaver.

Reverse the situation where it would be "blacks only" and not one word would be said.

Not one.

i would. it went from whites segregating blacks, to black segregating themselves from whites. it's both messed up.

in situations where they have the "Ms. Black America", they should remove all ability to enter the "Ms. America", etc. i dont think i've ever heard of a white woman winning MS. Black America, yet the reverse has happened many times.

bigotry in any direction is wrong.

I don't necessarily agree with the "all white" premis, however, we see a big stink being raise when white want to have a white (fill in the blank) but when we have black history month, black Congressional Caucus, Black Christmas (Kwanza), Louis Farakahn (?), Reverend Wright and all the other "Black" specialties, not one word is spoke as to the racist aspects of the "Black only" activity/organization.

Why is that? Possibly because we whites have a deep seated shame of historical slavery?

Any white folk here ever walk into an all black Southern Baptist church on Sunday morning? What kind of looks did you get from the congregation? Welcomed with open arms? I wan't. I was asked to leave by one of the "elders".

The sooner we, as a collective Nation, stop condoning racial separation in all forms, whether it is forced or voluntary, the sooner our nation will truly come together and unite as a people. Sounds good, but it will never happen.

Do you think the fear of seeming to be a racist if the black woman did not win was a driving factor for the votes?

not sure i am the right person to answer that question as i dislike all religions equally.

My comment was based on what I percieve to be a disingenuous OP that presents the Christian Identity Movement as a mainstream Christian denomination when it is actually a racist fringe group that probably has fewer than 1000 members.

these folks seem just as crazy and out there as Westboro. i wouldnt imagine either have a descent following. same can be said for the extremeists of any religion.

Lets see, I am (really) an ordained Christian minister whose Mother and Grandmother were Jewish. So I guess that I would NOT be welcome there. Two of my closest friends (one black one Mexican) wouldnt either. Jesus was a Jew so he wouldnt be welcome either. I wonder how many of these so called christian identity BIGOTS have taken advantage of the many accomplishments by 'non white' races? Can they even spell B-I-G-O-T-R-Y ? I guess they cant read The Gospel Of John in particular John 3:16. The operative word is WHOSOEVER, no race just WHOSOEVER, meaning any and everybody! One other thing. God is many things and one of the most important is HE IS COLOR BLIND! end of sermon.
