Air soft Pistol

Because of all the shooting in schools our town is now treating air soft pistols as a handgun. These guns shoot a plastic pelt. No one can carry or discharge one in the city. You must have a permit to carry this kids gun and you can NOT shoot it in the city. I don't think you can carry or use a sling shoot in town. THIS IS NUTS.

Didn't your mother ever tell you that you could shoot your eye out!:girl_wacko:!!this shows you how idiotic these people are.zero reality

In my township pellet guns and any air gun is considered a firearm and has been that way for quite some time. It was mostly so kids wouldn't shot windows out of buildings for "fun" from what I've heard some of the old timers say. Funny thing... um, they still do. Soooo, the question remains, do words on paper that we call laws stop crime? NO!!

Where is this?

In my town there are no restrictions on Airsoft guns.

hmmm, they would just put me in jail and throw away the key. I probably shoot 500 BBs a week in my backyard, which abuts a elementary school playground (on the other side of my 7 foot fence. I collect cardboard boxes, put in packing, brace it against my shed and away I go. I have marked off 3,5,7, and 10 meters. Lots of fun exercises done there. Shed remains unscathed but there are a lot of dead zombies and the like back there.

And your communities continue to vote for politicians who pass such foolish regulations??????????????????????????

Then you have a township run by fools. An airsoft gun or any pellet gun that fires that pellet or BB by means of a charge of non-volatile gas is by definition not a firearm. It is only those that use something that burns as a propellant that makes them a firearm. And even that is sometimes not the case. Potato guns for example, are not firearms according to the ATF.

And how many politicians have you met in our recent times that aren't fools? Yes, they are, and yes, they have made a stupid ruling. Since you mentioned potato guns, they are also listed as banned in our township too, but like you, I agree they are a firearm since one burns a propellant to have the potato discharge.

Since our politicians are fools and are generally ignorant about the ways and uses of firearms, this is why we need to be extra vigilant in our fight to protect our rights concerning firearms.

Airsoft guns are considered firearms in my town in NC as well, and it is illegal to discharge one within town limits. To say that law is widely ignored would be an understatement. Kids put up signs on the road giving the date and time for neighborhood airgun "wars", and the police routinely drive by the field or housing developments where these wars are taking place without so much as a glance. The only time I know of anyone getting in trouble was a teenager standing on the side of a major road pointing his airsoft gun at passing cars. Its lucky the police didn't shoot him! Even he didn't get arrested, they confiscated his airsoft gun and took him home, with a serious lecture to his parents.

Technically, the way the ordnance is written those plastic guns that shoot the darts with a suction cup on the end are prohibited. Luckily so far the police officers have better sense than the town councilmen and don't want to waste time chasing people with toy guns.
