So a buddy of mine called me up and said he has a gun for sale $700.00

New Never Fired

Beretta Model 92

9MM Luger

Double/Single Action

2 Magazines

All Paperwork

100 Rounds Ammo

Don Hume Jitt Slide Holster

Hogue Grips and Stock Grips

Carry Case and Trig Lock

I don't know a whole lot about Beretta. Does this sound like a good deal people? Also when you buy from a friend what is the legal guide lines if i decide to buy it? I am in TN. Thanks

If it is a Beretta M9, sounds like a good deal. The gun is heavy and large, so don't expect to conceal it very easily. Taurus makes the exact same gun (PT-92), and having been issued/shot the Beretta M9 and owned and shot the Taurus PT-92, I liked the Taurus a lot better, and about $150 less.

Face to face sale between two residents of TN is payment only required, no paperwork, no FFL required by law in TN.

I just noticed Cabela's has Beretta M9's for $600.

Depending on the holster and ammo, and considering no sales tax on the deal (but you are, technically, supposed to pay use tax), the $700 is about average. Not the deal of a lifetime.

Bud's Guns had the Taurus PT-92 for $481.

I would try to talk the seller down to $650.

That doesn't sound like too bad of a deal. The fact that you get a lot of the original stuff and extras is really what sweetens the deal with the gun. If you like the gun and it is something you want, then do it. But if you are doubtful or have your heart set on something else, hold out. Berettas are great weapons tho.

Oh i have seen the gun in person before and it is in mint condition. I was just wondering and seeking advice on it because i don't own any Berettas. Damn every time i try to save a little money i always get hot fingers. Oh well we cant take our money with us when we are 6 feet under he he

The prices of guns are only going to keep going up for the next year or so, or at least until we find out what the Federal government is going to do.

I own a Taurus PT-99 which is basically a Brazilian Beretta 92 with adjustable sights. No complaints. Normally I would consider the price a little on the high side, but with supply/demand conditions right now I would say jump on it (try to get him down some anyway).

Yep, unless you're used to having 2 pounds hanging on you all day (doesn't bother me) you'll either have to get used to it or get discouraged and find another gun (I use a ccrossbreed supertuck or a kangaroo depending on whether it's riding primary or back-up).

I carry my beretta 92FS Inox every day. Have another beretta M9 in the safe. Excellent weapons.

See if he will take $600 and meet in the middle at $650.

Is it black or "silver" the stainless inox is worth more.

The Beretta 92 is an excellent sidearm, however it is not a good choice for concealed carry due to it's large frame imvho.

After careful consideration from both sides we were not able to reach in between. Therefore i did not buy. Thanks for all the input from other members who knew more about this firearm then i did concerning the Beretta 92. I appreciate it. Oh well cant win them all lol

I own many Beretta's I like the DA/SA aspect.
While I don't carry my 92's I do carry by Cougar and my PX4 both in 45.
I have 2 92's - one full size and one compact.
While I have tried both in competition, I have reverted back to the 45s as they just seem more accurate.
I can shoot a less that a 2 inch group with the 45s but the darn 9's always seem to have one go off on an adventure.
I can only suggest that you A.) handle it B.) shoot it C.) be prepared to take hell from the Glock Guys. (just havin fun with Glock owners)LOL
If you are a big person you won't have any trouble with the 92.

With all the extras it's a really good deal. Buy it! Try to negotiate a better price of course but its still a good deal. Not sure on the rules in TN for a private firearm sale.

No great loss believe me....
There are still plenty of other great choices out there imvho.

I'm a fan of the baby Glock's myself, have you considered one of these reliable and rugged beauties in 9mm?

I own two 92FSs, great weapons. I at one point owned the Taurus PT92, I liked it... the safety was better but I wanted a standard weapon with a standard mag and the M9 is still used by our military so spare parts/mags are everywhere. I enjoy shooting the 92FS, it fits my hand very well and is accurate. It is heavy, compared to modern autos but you have to look at what you're getting... it's all metal and thus can withstand a lot of abuse. Also, you can beat the hell out somebody with it if you run out of ammo, heh. You'll hear horror stories about them breaking, which are actually from early batches out of Italy... the alloy was crap for a number of slides, so they broke somewhere near 15 or 20K rds. However, those problems are gone and many of the 92FSs are made here in America... the M9 has its fans and its foes, our military has been using it for a few decades without an overwhelming cry for change. The contract was just resigned I believe as well... though, at the same time the Marines ordered a new 1911 for service. Hell, some Spec-Ops units use Sigs... as well as USAF OSI, so it may just be personal preference.

Is 9mm the uber defensive/warfare round...? Of course not! Is .45acp...? Some would say yes, others not. Just hit what you need to, where you need to and it won't matter.

Anyway... $700 for that, it's not bad but I'd try for a deal... maybe you can talk him down a bit. I think you'll like the 92FS though, hey... remember... Bruce Willis used it in Die Hard, so it's gotta be good right?
