Active Shooter PSA From Houston Mayor's Office

Here's the video on YouTube:

Or if you prefer, here's the story. (The same video is at the story link)

The story says the video was commissioned back in January of this year and apparently held back for just such an occasion as the Aurora shooting. That's weird. If the PSA really has any educational value in how to survive a mass murder shooting scenario, then why wait to release it until one just happened? What if it had happened in Houston instead of Aurora, and a can of film was sitting in the Mayor's cabinet that could've ostensibly saved lives? Oops.

Anyway, watch the thing and see if you notice anything missing that could help save lives. Just asking the question probably gives most here a clue what they won't find in the PSA.

It's amzing how many people out there actually don't carry... it's too bad, literally... just think how many lives could be saved if more citizens carried everywhere they went.

Save yourself.... don't go into harms way....

I'm sorry but I just can't buy that. I carry to protect myself my family and friends. If I have to go into harms way to make sure they survive so be it.

good video and i agree more folks should be carrying i've carried every day since i got my permit only two places i either left my rig at home or in my truck ......one was going to post office and today i left it in my truck while i went swimming......a good console safe is what i'm in the market for and a rig of my own i'm shopping around and hope to get my own soon.......meanwhile i love my borrowed rig set up works well with my style of clothing too
wishing you all safe out there

a lot of employers do not allow the employee's to carry at work,or even have a weapon in thier own car in thier parking lot. AT&T does that. I had to park off premisis and walk to work jus to be able to have my weapon for the commute to and from work. I always had a large folding hunting knife in my pocket but would have prefered to be able to carry.so, in cases like that this film might save a few lives. I always had my way out planned out. I do gthat where ever i go. just sayn

Biggest lesson learned - the 30.06 sign on the door didn't do squat to stop the bad guy from bringing a gun into the offices.

This is how the scenario should play out

Ahhh here it is. Just posted this too. Guess I should take a look around before I go and re-thread. hahaha....ah well. Nice post!

my take away..

gov't never encourages the only realistic solution to a mad gunman.

gov't sanctioned proof that gun free zones are ineffective & dangerous.

terrorist are no longer middle eastern.

and the army shows up with the cops from now on.

did I miss anything?

Works for me, PestControl.

If I were going to write the script for what I think is missing, it would have some guy or gal running around asking their co-workers who else is a CC'er, and being incredulous that they were the only ones. Then I'd have the guy or gal take out the shooter before going back to their co-workers and giving them an earful about now do you understand why it's important to get your carry permits????

Before anyone says how far-fetched such an admonition might be, don't take it from me, take it from Sheriff Chuck Wright of Spartanburg County, SC. Listen from about 4:45 on.

This happens to be the same county where the Waffle House shooting back in January happened, and later in the thread the shooter, snipingshadow, stopped by to educate all the anti-sheepdog-types on why his actions were justified and necessary. Sheriff Wright supported him, just as the Houston Mayor's Office should be supporting CC'ers with at least a mention of carrying being an option to survive violent crime attacks in this pabulum-puking, run-and-hide-and-wait-to-die Public "Service" Announcement. I really find the tenor of the PSA offensive, and not helpful at all to anyone truly concerned with surviving a violent attack by a maniac.

wow blues...that waffle house thread is incredible..I'm like 50 pages in so far...thanks for sharing it.

I agree this PSA is offensive.

Its discouraging to see how weak & cowardly our society has become..and ignorant too..I mean heck, they even need an instructional video to learn how to effectively be weak & cowardly. lol

I choose to ignore company policy of "No weapons allowed". If I have to become the criminal, just to insure my own safety, SO BE IT.
I refuse to be a victim and I REFUSE to allow my employer to decide my fate.
If I am outed, I will be fired. The job sucks anyway.
