I came up with an idea for a smartphone app that I have not seen & entered it in a contest where the winning idea gets produced. This app is geared toward gun owners who have carry permits. It's a GPS based app that informs you that you are approaching a state where your permit my be valid.

Even if you don't have a smartphone vote or a carry license help support those who do. This could be a great tool to help keep your carry brothers & sisters from loosing their permit or going to jail because of over restrictive state policies.
Features for app.
1) GPS/Accelerometer based 10 mile notification of approaching boarder where your carry status changes. Ex: from carry allowed state to not allowed state or vice versa.
2) Custom ringtone, maybe something like a siren, maybe like the French police so we do not think it is really the police.
3) A silent ringer override because when you are driving most don't check their alerts right away (i would have the ringtone gradually get louder so if you are traveling at night you have a chance to check it before you wake everyone in the car.
4) The ability to add multiple "resident" and "non resident" permits for those who have more than one.
5) A notification that lets you know you are 6 months from the expiration of any of your permits.
