a little confused right now: orange county

last week i went and handed in the first part of the application, got finger printed and handed the second half of the application with the references and reasons for carry and all that. i was also given a piece of paper saying i need to also get things such as directions to my house, two bills, receipt for deposit on handgun, 2 stamped and self addressed envelopes, and a letter to the judge. i was told once i had all of this together and done to call a number (the guy fingerprinting me wrote on bottom) and ask for dave to schedule an interview with the sheriffs department. so today since i have all of that done and ready i call the number and ask for dave like i was told...

when the phone was picked up i asked for dave and said i needed to schedule an appointment. they informed me that this is not how you make an appointment and that i needed to come in hand in some paperwork and then they would mail me a letter with when my interview is. when i talked to dave he asked how i got his name so i informed him. they kind of made me feel like and like an idiot but i was only doing as i was told when i got finger printed.

can anyone clear up this portion of the process and which is the correct way since i was told on way and did it but told it was the wrong way baiscally, now i am just confused and feel like someone is playing a joke on me.

any advice on which process is right and what is wrong will help

I didn't see where your Orange County was located. The one near me has things pretty well nailed down, though the new Sheriff has made a few changes that confused some.

It's in the New York discussion forum so I'm guessing it's not Florida or California Orange county.

I could be wrong though!
