A Gun Range with an alcohol bar?

It's easy, when you enter if you want to shoot you have to get a wrist band, when you order a drink, the wrist band is cut off therefore making it impossible for you to shoot. MOST people with guns are very responsible when it comes to guns and booze.....There is NO access to the bar without first registering and getting the wrist band.

There are places with go cart tracks that do the same thing.

I can carry in a bar in MN....

When I was a kid my dad was a member of a gun club that had a nice range and bar, and it was on a military base.

Oh I see, so if you are drinking you can not shoot. But when people are drinking there can still be problems and with everyone having guns on them or in their cars a shootout could still happen.

I can not understand why alcohol is so important? Why not have a nice Cafe/Restaurant where you can get soda, chocolate milk, espresso, etc. also maybe sandwiches, fries, etc. That is much better than a bar.

From the time I was a boy my dad drilled it into my head that gunpowder and alcohol don't mix. I drilled it into my son and now into my grandchildren.

Never mix alcohol with guns. It makes your drink have a Hoppes aftertaste, yeach! Here we go again. People should not consume alcohol with car keys in their pockets because of the large number of fatal vehicle accidents caused by drunk drivers, right? Can someone explain to me exactly what is the difference between a person shooting at the gun range, putting away their guns, and walking across the street to have a beer than a person shooting at a gun range, putting away their guns, and then going into the bar area of the gun range to have a beer?

I guess I just don't understand alcoholics. There is no need to put alcohol into your body, it has no nutritional value. In fact it can destroy the brain, stomach, liver, etc. It is like playing russian roulette with a revolver.

Someone once told me that alcohol allows someone to become something they are not, it allows a phony front to be put up.
Or that it can be used to hide something bad in people. Usually people who drink are people who do not believe in what they are doing or are hiding something. It's like bar life, bars are a phony place where people are trying to be something else.
People drinking are saying look at me, I hate this phony self but keep drinking to impress people I am great. Of course eventually the drinking catches up and you end up in AA meetings, a mental institution, or dead. It is the way of alcohol.
Just go to an alcoholic ward in a hospital and I bet you stop drinking.

Hiccup, gimme a damn drink and my gun, I wanna go shoot some bad guys.

Allow me to prefix this by stating these are only my humble opinions.
Not sure what this has to do with the thread though. Not all who have a drink are alcoholics. To make that statement is like those who say anyone who has a gun is a killer. Too much generalization for me. People drink, some to impress, some to socialize, some for other reasons, not everyone is a drunk or an alcoholic.
A bar at a gun club that has restrictions isn't a bad thing. To be honest, I get the impression you have a personal problem/serious concern with alcohol.

I see no problem after a shooting session, putting the guns away and having a drink with like minded folks at the gun club. In a lot of states it's legal to carry and consume alcoholic beverages while being armed, either open carry or CCW. No difference.

cluznar.... drinking alcoholic beverages doesn't make someone an alcoholic. There are a lot more factors involved and I suggest you study the subject some before making such a sweeping statement.

If you say so. I have never drank and I can't understand why people do. I just know that alcohol can not be something good because if you drink too much you get sick, get a DUI, etc. Police watch out for drinking drivers, you are not supposed to drink before shooting... all these things tell me that there is no way that alcohol can be any good. I guess like cigarettes it just hooks you.

Ignorance is bliss.

If this was local to me I would NOT join. While the sides seem to be separate and there are going to be polices in place preventing the two from mixing I foresee issues. While the majority of folks are responsible there are many who are not.

Yep, alcohol is a toxin but we take in way more toxins through our air, food and water yet no one seems to ever be overly concerned there. I believe in a couple glasses of beer or wine a day. Believe it or not they are good for you in many respects especially red wine (high in anti-oxidants and keeps cholesterol down) and real beer (has loads of B vitamins from the yeast) not the garbage this country makes like Miller, Bush, Budweiser, Coors, Michelob etc. Real beer made with only Barley, Hops, Water and Yeast like you find in microbrews or imports from Germany for example that follow the Reinheitsgebot.

This country however has a tendency to overindulge and abuse leading to addictions. I don't think having a bar at a gun range is a good idea unless there are certain provisions made such as drink limits, no alcohol consumption before setting foot on the range or it's a club where your weapons are locked up and you leave w/o them after having consumed alcohol

I have to put my .02 cents in.

I belong to an Club that serves Alcohol. It is Seperate from the shooting Range. Once you have ordered a drink you can not return to Range.

99% of the guys at the Bar are either WWII Vets or Veitnam Vets just sitting around having a good time.

It brings them closer together, They feel like they belong to Something. I often go to the bar, and order a Coke and just listen to the ole timers Stories.

They are just looking for Someone to talk too. Most have no Families left Except for the members of the club. Just my .02 cents

In Georgia a 3.5 million gun range which has a alcohol bar is being built.

How many Instructors would want to handle shooters drinking alcohol?

I can't believe any state would allow this.

:help:

It will be a members only club.

Member card must be presented if a drink is purchased.

Member card will be flagged to prevent member for entering shooting range after drink is purchased.

There are hundreds of private shooting ranges and clubs that have bars and restaurants on the premisses.

This one gets scrutiny because it will have woefully ignorant neighbors that have already establish a preconceived notion of the type of person gun owners are and a liberally biased news source reporting on it. I know. I used to live in Ga and watched WSB distort the facts. They are quite good at it.

There are more state in the nation that permit gun carriers to enter into establishments that serve liquor than there are that prohibit it. These establisments do not have the safeguards in place than this shooting range proposes.

I would imagine there are a lot of things you can't believe.

I think it would be kickazz if they took it one step further and had a full blown restaurant in the facility and a humidor. Nothing better than buying a new gun, taking it for a test run then celebrating with a great steak, a 3 finger Dewars on the rocks and a smooth Cohiba to finish the transaction. That would be awesome!

personally i don't think it's a good idea at all.......i've gone to a range shooting and later gone to a restaurant with a bar but still didn't order alcohol as i don't drink much... but a good meal after a range trip is always welcome imo....and even still you go to the range lets say then go to the bar and drink a few cold ones with your friends then go home packin with an illegal alcohol blood number whilst carrying.........just don't sound too smart to me esp being the reason we carry is to defend if necessary and we all know how alcohol can effect us....personally i think i'm fine after a few cold ones and carrying but the law don't agree so............ best safe than sorry imo
