A Glass of Wine

I can't attest to the medical accuracy of this but I have an octogenarian friend who swears by it.

A glass of wine

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine

and those who don't and are always

seen with a bottle of water in their hand:

As Ben Franklin said:

In wine there is wisdom,

In beer there is freedom,

In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,

scientists have demonstrated that if we drink

1 litre of water each day,

at the end of the year we would have absorbed

more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria

found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually.

However,

We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer

(or rum, whiskey or other liquor)

because alcohol has to go through a purification process

of boiling, filtering and fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop,

Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,

than to drink water and be full of Sh--.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service

I agree 100% except that I prefer craft beer hands down. Which is nice since I live in a city with almost 20 craft breweries within 10 minutes of my house. Probably will be 20+ by spring.

Hate to think how many times a glass of water in New Orleans has been flushed down toilets from Canada and 31 states between the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachian Mountains.

Spend as much time filtering your water as they do filtering your booze and you will be fine.

If you are drinking unfiltered water, you are doing yourself a disservice. Best filtration is distilled, Reverse Osmosis is good but it does not remove everything, such as fluoride.

I should be in pretty good shape then. I NEVER drink water despite everybody saying you should. I drink some diet soda, but I drink wine and/or cocktails most every day.
My husband drinks about a gallon of water a day (Britta filtered for whatever that's worth) and we have a private well, so no fluoride. I'm disgustingly healthy, hardly ever get sick. My husband on the other hand is just the opposite and he seldom drinks even beer. So maybe there is something to that.

Actually, Reverse Osmosis DOES remove fluoride. Put "does reverse osmosis remove fluoride?" in your favorite search engine and you will find many instances of reports that back my statement. RO filtering does waste a lot of water but I'm working on a system to recycle the wasted water for toilet flushing.

I'll go with the craft beer myself. Recently spent a week in the Asheville area (in Black Mountain) and got to visit some of my favorites.

Booze is booze. Regardless of how you frame it's consumption. Alcohol destroys far more peoples health than it fortifies. Alcohol is a drug. The problem with any drug, including marijuana and caffeine, is consuming it in moderation. Some can, while many cannot. All stuff like this does is give them an excuse to consume it. The end result will be the same for many. Most people will live longer if they stay away from it, than will live longer by consuming it.

We'll see.

There is nothing "to see". It's a proven fact. Look it up in any reputable medical journal. Alcohol destroys far more lives than it saves. Any doctor will tell you, he or she has seen far more damage done by alcohol, than they see good. It's much like gambling in that regard. Overall there are far more losers than winners.
