A .22LR is as good as a .45

I do like 45s, but a 22 is just as good.

The more I learn, the more I see that practice and training is more important than caliber.

Cost of ammo becomes an issue for many.

In a panic situation :
Someone who practices weekly with a 22 will be much better than someone who practices a few times a year with a 45.

I may have to sell my 45 s so I can practice more.

An Alternate Look at Handgun Stopping Power

For self-defense: .22 beats .45

A great article thanks for all the information. As a 25 yr leo I suspected as much. Saw many die from 22 cal and many of the other cals. Dead is dead no mater what gun is used.

Thanks for the video, very thought-provoking. I think gun owners (myself included) tend to focus too much on the theory behind the caliber and ammunition, instead of the actual street data. Reality has a way of messing up really nice theories.

I have a feeling the flaming will soon commence, considering how controversial this video is.

A lot of thinking about this subject and, tend to agree with 22 concept. More bullets in a mag, better 'back on target' second shot when in a panic situation, lighter carry weight, and, cheaper to practice with. I know I am getting a 22 that I can carry, practice with it and compare with other guns I now use.

I enjoyed both videos. Very informative and I carry a .22. I also carry it everywhere, not just when it's comfortable. That is a factor in carrying large caliber handguns. Unless your like some who carry several different guns depending on the attire. Florida makes it difficult to wear heavy clothing, so the .22 just works for me.

Of course, shot placement is far more critical with the 22.

It does NOT have the ability to reach the "Off Buttons" from less than ideal angles.

Next week someone will post how BB guns are just as good as the .22, it has to be true because it was posted on the internet.

"There's a sucker born every minute"

I carried a .22 for a few months 'till I finally got sick of the "omfg that won't stop anyone!!" at the range..Even tho it shoots thru 2x4s and you can pretty easily put a 4-5 inch group on target rapid fire I guess it's just pointless...Should have carried a hammer.

lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lmao

Yeah, go ahead and laugh at the Mossad too, cause they have a long history of using .22. Course they couldn't possibly be as knowledgable as you when it comes to terminal ballistics.

Would you shoot a charging bear with a 223 or a 44 Magnum??? 223 develops more energy than a 44. The 223 can expand but the 44 will never shrink. The 44 makes a much larger wound channel while destroying more tissue than a 22 caliber bullet as it passes though. I have brought down numerous game animals and I have learned one thing consistant thing and Robert Ruark said it well, "Use enough gun." The other queston with 22's is it going to go off when you squeeze the trigger. I have had more issues with 22 misfires than any other centerfire cartridge. 22's are not made with the same QC as centerfire defensive cartridges. So the big question is would you "really" trust your life with a 22????

22 is also a favorite of the mob.... Used for highend hits on unsuspecting targets I am quite positive it is very effective. On a adrenal driven attacker it is most definitely questionable...

Some people have no concept of proper tool for the job, they're the same people who don't understand the difference between a finishing hammer and a framing hammer. While a .22lr is as potentially lethal (and a better close range assassination choice) as is a .50 BMG the .22lr is not the man stopper (nor long range sniping choice) the .50 BMG is, different tools for different jobs.

Once you have the right tool, make sure you keep the axe sharp. Otherwise even the right tool will fail and you will waste a lot of energy.

What did I take from the video? Handguns are okay, long guns are better, use whatever handgun you have to get to your long gun.

22, 9mm, 45, whatever
I still think that training and practice is more important than caliber.

With the cost of ammo going through the roof.
If you cant practice at least once a week you need cheaper ammo.

I agree with training and practice of any sort whether it be dryfire or live fire with any caliber, but what ever you do carry the biggest caliber you can comfortably shoot....
