1st Grade Patriotic Performance

My son's class had a performance this week, and I must say, I couldn't be more proud. It was a Patriotic theme, where a good deal of the production was done by the 1st grade class. They recited the Pledge of Allegiance, learned the story behind Yankee Doodle, sang a couple other traditional, solely American songs, my kid's class presented facts about the Statue of Liberty, and get this... learned about and memorized the preamble of the U.S. Constitution. How many adults know that one? A bunch of 6-year-olds do!

That's awesome Telpinaro.

Tell your kid that this vet salutes him and all his classmates.

Tell the teacher, the same goes for him/her too.

That's awesome. I wish our kids school would do something like that. Maybe I'll have to pitch a project idea :)

They do a pretty cool Veteran's Day ceremony, too. They send out flyers asking for all the Veterans in the area, get everyone outside for a special flag raising ceremony done by the boy scouts, and provide a breakfast set up by students and school tours by student ambassadors for the veterans. I got funny looks the first time I went... I know most of veterans are in the area retired, but women can be veterans, too!
