Is there a way to tell what model and how old a shotgun is? The butt end says Stevens, there is Browning Patent Pending stamped on the barrel, and the serial number is in the 9 thousands. Other than that I can't find any markings on it.

My Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 came with a little yellow envelope in the box which contained a shell. Do these come with every pistol? Can the date on this envelope help me figure out when my gun was manufactured?
