Detroit: You might just be right when you say white people walk around with a sense of entitlement. We do. We feel we are entitled to what we earn. The world doesn't owe us a thing. What we have we have earned by the sweat of our own brow. If anyone tries to project a sense of entitlement these days, it is the black population that has grown up on government handouts, welfare checks for those who will not work, payments for having babies out of wedlock and receiving government support for them, etc.,etc. The very arguments you are trying to use against us are the very things blacks are doing. You said no one is afraid of whites anymore. That's nice. I don't want anyone being afraid of me because I am white. Conversely, I am not afraid of you just because you are black. I am not afraid of these young thugs causing problems now. Anyone who tries to harm me or my family, regardless of color, will damned sure get shot. As the old saying goes, "Don't start a fight with an old man who is no longer able to fight. He will kill you." These young bucks might think they can get away with being bad and hurting people. They are going to wind up getting killed in the process. No one wants that nor do we want to go back to the days of the white sheets, lynchings, etc. I can remember seeing the KKK have a motor march through town wearing their white sheets and carrying their crosses. Now, that will instill fear in you. We definitely don't want to go back to those days. I told you in an earlier post that you were inciting people by your comments and they have gotten mad. It seems all the instigation is coming from blacks now and will definitely cause an uprising. Do any of us want that? We could all learn a bit from William Shakespeare, "Conversation should be pleasant without scurrility, witty without affectation, free without indecency, learned without conceitedness, novel without falsehood." I would think it is time for us all to let this thread die a natural death and pick up somewhere else in a neutral manner.
OldGrunt, you really know how to awaken the demons. As a young boy, I lived in a Southern state for a short time. An African-American college professor and his wife moved in next door to us. They were both well-educated and extremely nice. We awoke two weeks later to a cross flaming in their front yard...they were moved out two days later. It was one of the most disturbing events that has ever happened in my life, and I was too young at the time to understand it, but I grew up never understanding that kind of hate towards African-Americans nor the hate some African-Americans carry towards all whites. I hope your post is taken to heart.
